Castleview is Growing

Building work well under way.

Work began in Castleview at the beginning of January 2010 to provide an additional five bedrooms.

Apart from the additional bedrooms, some of which are totally designed to meet the needs of adults with complex needs, other work includes adding an extra fire safety lift, ensuite bathrooms, specialised shower and bathrooms, extra living accommodation, a light sensory room and a family room.

We will also be refurbishing and redecorating our existing premises to a higher standard including dividing two double bedrooms.
During the work, we aim to continue to provide the same excellent standard of care that our residents expect.

Health and Safety procedures and practices will be strictly adhered to at all stages of the development. These practices will be reviewed regularly to ensure a safe and healthy living and working environment.

We recognise that the development is going to be a big part of our residents’ lives over the next months. Therefore at recent resident meetings, we have described the development so our residents have an understanding of the work being carried out and what it entails. We have also explained that some stages of the work may cause some annoyance so that all residents are prepared for some degree of inconvenience. We will continue to have regular meetings in order to ensure that any concerns are addressed and everyone is aware of what is happening. Staff will also be very observant and recognise if anyone appears to be anxious and respond appropriately.

At this point in time the residents are fully aware, excited and looking forward to having a bigger home. The stage of work that the residents are most looking forward to is whenever the main kitchen will be out of commission for approximately two weeks. The result of this “inconvenience” will be meals out at restaurants, hotels and take-away food. As one resident stated “happy days”.

We hope that the work will be completed by September 2010, as this date will coincide with our 20th Anniversary. It is therefore hoped that we can have a double celebration by celebrating our Anniversary, and also the opening of our new extension. I think that will be “A Day to Remember”!

We will keep you posted on how our development is progressing. So watch this space.
